Can I just say that Brunner's tests blow? I think it is his mission to destroy our academic confidence.
But I am experiencing post test anxiety dissipation as we speak. Take a deep breath and say Aaaaaah.

If it weren't for the multiple choice, I would have no problem with the tests, but...

As you said elsewhere, maybe Brunner is trying to challenge us as preparation for what lies ahead, but that seems like a deficient strategy when it's due to including obscure, unimportant, trivial and mundane details on an exam. I'm sure you won't disagree with this, but I think that he could find better ways to make his class tough on us. I'm not afraid of a challenge, but I want it to be connected to meaningful / applicable concepts and details. The research paper qualifies, especially as it is preparation for you MATS types who want to go on to doctoral work (you sick freaks), but his multiple choice questions completely fail that test.
ReplyDeleteBrunner is an interesting guy. I know we all respect him and enjoy spending time with him, so maybe this is why we feel so betrayed by his tests. There is a disconnection between his [pastoral heart, advocacy for student development & general personality] and his questionable and crazy test question composition.
We'll survive, but I think my chance for an "A" is an endangered species. Bah!

What else could I do for my exam that I have not done?
ReplyDeleteI got a flippin' 36.5/40. These tests are a joke. A bad one.
